'gîte'
Discover a renovation that is in keeping with history and the environment
Ty Kabiten is a former captain's house at the entrance of the village of Locmariaquer, which was completely and carefully renovated in 2018.
The new owner's wish?
To re-establish the former prestige of the old house, by respecting its history and the environment. The renovation also allowed more opening up of the house to the sea and to make it more flexible and welcoming to a greater number of visitors.

Our 'gîte' concept in Locmariquer
The entire renovation and decoration of Ty Kabiten was guided by 4 key words:
Authenticity, Maritime, Ecology and Sharing.
Authenticity and History
This is the story of a captain's house that has stood at the entrance to the hamlet of Locmariaquer for over a century. As you cross its threshold, you are instantly immersed in its history. Its stone walls, wall hangings, wood panelling and fireplaces are all reminders of the craftsmanship of another era.
Once owned by a family of oyster farmers, it now belongs to a couple with a passion for sailing and Brittany, who are keen to give it yet another lease of life. In 2018, it was completely renovated in keeping with its history and renamed ‘Ty Kabiten’, meaning ‘the captain's house’ in Breton.
As in front of the captain's houses on Île-d'Arz and Île-aux-Moines, the former owners planted a palm tree (brought over from the West Indies?). This exotic touch in front of the remarkable façade is our logo.
Maritime
Long facing the street, this house and its large garden are now open to the sea. A large veranda and terrace provide a friendly atmosphere. Everything is visible from each flat: the Gulf with the rhythm of the tides, the sailing boats coming out of the Auray river, the birds nesting in the protected area... The furniture and decoration inspired by the working sailing boats of the late 19th century.
Would you like to embark into the 'belle époque'?
Ecology
Overcoming local constraints, we have chosen to do better, proactively
In each flat, a folder explains recycling and the chosen features: wood-fibre insulation, heat pump, solar panel, waste sorting, kitchen garden at your disposal, future projects, etc. To inspire you at home? Comfort without polluting!
Sharing
Ty Kabiten will welcome 5 couples or 5 families, including family and friends of the owners. Or community groups (culture, sports, social etc).
These flats are available on a week-by-week basis and are completely self-contained to guarantee independence and comfort. They have a kitchen, dining/living room with sea view, but it is entirely possible and recommended to use the large, bright veranda with sea view or the quiet corners in the garden.
There are no TVs in the bedrooms of the flats, but one is available in the main living room. Numerous other activities are available both indoors and outdoors, including sports equipment in the sail shed, to make the most of the garden and the gulf that runs alongside it...(see the Appartments and Services).
You want both: privacy and conviviality?
They're here to welcome you:
